Carl is an Open-Source Intelligence Analyst at Luminint.
Carl is originally from France and Switzerland and has lived in several countries including the United States, Mexico, the Philippines, UK, Czechia, South Sudan, and Ukraine. He completed his undergrad in International Relations from Boston University, and continued on to complete an MA in National Security Studies at King’s College London, where his dissertation addressed how countries such as Russia use technology and intelligence to more efficiently compete with the West. Carl has worked in the risk intelligence and security sector for the past three years in several conflict zones, including South Sudan and most recently Ukraine. In South Sudan, he worked as a security risk analyst and field security officer for private companies in the security sector and UN contracting, providing security risk management for clients ranging from private, to NGO, to diplomatic organizations. In Ukraine, Carl worked for the INGO INTERSOS as a Security Manager and Coordinator, providing in-house conflict analysis, security management, and field assessments for humanitarian needs throughout the county’s Eastern and Southern regions. Carl has engaged with other analytical work on security issues including consulting and writing articles for political risk groups such as London Politica. His main focus is geopolitical security and defense in Europe, Russia, and Eurasia, as well as conflict and intelligence. |
